Thomas Prior is a psychotherapist and counsellor working in Dublin. He graduated with a first class honours degree in counselling and psychotherapy and is accredited with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Thomas runs a full time private practice at 30 Mountjoy Square where he provides professional, confidential support for adults struggling with mental health challenges.
Initially studying biochemistry and working as a medical scientist for 18 years, Thomas decided to switch careers and embark upon a career in psychotherapy after he benefited greatly from his own experience of receiving psychotherapy during some challenging periods in his life. This positive and life enhancing experience compelled Thomas to study psychotherapy and offer others the support he benefited from himself.
Thomas works with a humanistic and psychodynamic approach to therapy, focusing on establishing an open and trusting relationship with those who come to him, providing a non judgmental environment where feelings, needs and fears can be safely explored.
Thomas is committed to helping individuals better understand themselves and reach their potential with the hope that a better understanding of who we are as a person can provide a more fulfilling and peaceful life. He provides insights and techniques for coping with the many anxieties in life such as social situations, relationships, career as well as struggles with self esteem and finding meaning in life. Thomas believes that taking on the challenge of discovering who we truly are is the best way to find the meaning and motivation for a full life.
